2023 in review
So where to begin… Burning Man 2023 was one to remember. The headlines weren’t wrong - this was, without a doubt, one of the toughest weeks we can remember on Playa - with unprecedented rains, sanitation challenges and a loooong exodus.
But ‘Mud Man’ was exceptional in other ways, with the rains came a refocusing on the principles of community and self reliance that have been the foundation stones of Burning Man from the beginning.
During this historic burn, Land Of Monkey not only partied together, cooked delicious meals together, hosted some memorable events (including workshops, naming ceremonies and serving our signature freshly squeezed lemonade)… we also learnt some tough lessons on rain proof infrastructure… together.
In 2023 we welcomed many camp newbies and embraced old friends, with representation from 15 different countries, every color of the LGBTQ+ rainbow 🌈 and with an age range spanning 60 years. We celebrated the Playa Union of Dylan and Maiara, found peace at the temple and rallied round our camp totem at sunrise.
All in all, this was a memorable burn, that bought us closer together and taught us some things about resilience and good humour.
We hope to see you all for a glass of lemonade or cold brew coffee in 2024.
With Love LOM - a family forged in fire and mud.
XOXO 🌈
